In a time of limited communication options, the precursor to instant messaging apps was the option of using a short message service (sms), which was initially limited to 160 characters. I used this restriction and the awkward character input from 2014 - 2019 - the period of use of a particular mobile phone model - to write short poems and send them to a counterpart.
